Young McDonald Farm was established in 2016, when our oldest brother, Andrew McDonald purchased the land. His goal was to leave his family with a property that they could live on and run as a sustainable farm. Since Andrews passing shortly after he bought Young McDonald Farm, we as a family have been working towards his goals. As a family we strive to produce and raise quality products and cattle. Take a look at what we offer and provide with just quick look at some our most loved animals we have on the farm. At Young McDonald Farm we primarily raise registered beefmasters for top quality beef and replacement Heifers. Our girls are fed strictly a grass fed diet year around with the supplemental cubes as treats. Their grass fed diet is a mix that we plat and seed each year for the best nutritional value they could receive. These big beautiful girls are the heart and sole of what our farm runs on. They are spoiled and treated with nothing but love and respect. Come by and see our gentle giants! Aside from our beefmasters, we also raise a handful of Jersey cows for milk. Meet our favorite girl, Shelly, pictured above. Although we are not a licensed dairy, our girls provide the family with a bountiful amount of milk. They come from our beautiful mix of laying hens that we have.as listed in our egg section these girls have access to a rotational grazing system with different produce, grasses, and bugs of their choosing. They also have free choice access to a higher protein feed than the average egg layers as well as fresh milk on the regular. Young McDonald Farm is proud to bring to your table the Freedom Ranger Broiler Chickens. These have been primarily grass fed chickens with some feed and milk from our Dairy cows. Now featuring No Soy or Corn Fed chickens. At Young McDonald Farm we raise the Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs, which is a heritage breed from England. These pigs are known for their exceptional marbling and flavor. Our pigs are raised on pasture and fed a soy free/corn free feed. We have recently added the Silver Appleyard Duck to the farm. They are a heritage breed known for their egg and meat production. Although ours love just hanging out in the pond with the pigs and enjoying the lazy life. Scottish Highland cows, known for their iconic long horns and shaggy coats, are a resilient breed thrives in the rugged landscapes of Scotland. These gentle giants not only a symbol of the Highlands but also play a vital role maintaining the ecosystem of their habitats. Their calm demeanor and unique appearance make them a favorite among farmers and visitors alike. At Young McDonald Farm we raise the best Turkey's. Our happy birds are raised on pasture and are primarily grass fed. Our birds are never fed any soy or corn and receive only the highest quality Non-GMO feed. Emus are fascinating, flightless birds native to Australia. Known for their long legs and distinctive appearance, these large birds can run at impressive speeds. Emus are also for their unique eggs, which are a striking dark green color and have a glossy finish. It originated in the Scottish Highlands and the Western Islands of Scotland and has long horns and a long shaggy coat. It is a hardy breed, able to withstand the intemperate conditions in the region.
