About Tall Timbers Forest Farm

The farm is located at around 1200 feet above sea level outside the small town of Cathlamet WA. We live completely off grid, using solar power and a rainwater collection system for water.  Our 6 acres includes timber land with Douglas Fir, Hemlock, Cedar and Spruce that provides silvo pasture for our sheep, chickens and turkeys. There are wild Huckleberry, Blackberry, Salmonberry bushes and Elderberry trees along with Salal and many types of edible mushrooms. Wild Trillium and roses add to the beauty of the forest. We raise Icelandic and Gotland sheep, both primitive and hardy breeds that do well in our climate. Their wool is used for spinning, weaving, felting and rug hooking. We grow only heirloom vegetables most of which we save seeds from each year.  and use no pesticides. Our food is not only nutritious but has unbeatable flavor when compared to supermarket vegetables. The farm also grows several different types of mints and herbs as well as dye plants for our wool and yarn. Strawberry Mint and Chocolate Mint are two of our favorites which we dry for tea. Old English roses, medicinal plants and many flowers dot the landscape and gardens. My husband and I came here 10 years ago to retire into a simpler and more sustainable lifestyle and enjoy the land that was once my grandfather's. Its history, its wildlife, its productivity and its serenity make for a wonderful life that we strive to share with our family, friends and community. HI Everyone! I am the owner of Tall Timbers Farm . My love of animals and farming goes back to my childhood. Both of my parents grew up on farms and even though we were "military brats", we never lived on base and always had a place in the country with vegetable gardens, pigs, chickens, and more. My Mom taught all of us girls how to can (4 girls) and preserve everything from vegetables and fruit to meats and soups. After high school, I moved from N.C. to California, and worked with horses training Hunter/Jumpers, showing on the A circuit on the west coast and taught lessons. I also began working at large animal veterinary hospitals then small animal hospitals, which I did for  30 years. I have 3 children, 2 boys and a girl, and have 6 Grandchildren. Besides farming, I love to spin wool. rug hook, paint and kayak. I still paint and design patterns and have 14 books published with my designs. Check out my website at : In 2015, I moved to Washington State to my 6-acre timberland and began my own farm. Sign up for our Newsletter!
