About Muddy Fork Farm

Our farming adventure began as a way for me to combine work while raising small children. My husband and I saw an opportunity to fulfill a dream of rural living, ecological stewardship and supporting our family doing meaningful and rewarding work. Our farm is continually changing and transforming with each season. The bare hill is now forested, our wetlands have come back and our soil is much richer than when we started. Children have come and gone. Many of our farm field hands have moved on to their own farming enterprises. We look forward to expanding our plantings to include more nut trees and grape wines. Every year brings new challenges and rewards.

Our Story

Our farming adventure began as a way for me to combine work while raising small children. My husband and I saw an opportunity to fulfill a dream of rural living, ecological stewardship and supporting ourselves. Muddy Fork Farm is a permaculture based farm, treating the earth with kindness and farming our land with care. We focus on perennial fruits and vegetables, chosen for their beauty and taste. We also sell grass fed lamb and wool products. Our online store is closed in 2025, but we are offering CSA shares in 2024. Lamb is for sale at the farm only, by order and pick-up appointment. Courtesy delivery available to select locations. We are open for the Spring of 2023. Orders are for pick-up at our stand at the market- between 8 and noon. See you soon! Our honey comes from our own hives. We currently keep two to five hives and provide plenty of habitat and flowers to keep them foraging and collecting nectar. Our honey is extracted on site, filtered and bottled. You may find that it crystallizes after some time. Crystallizations does not change the quality of the honey. If you want to liquify it, set it in a hot water bath and watch it turn back to its golden liquid form. Otherwise enjoy it as a spreadable delight on toast. Honey in the hive frame From the pasture-shop for lamb and wool products We have a flock of dorset sheep for both meat and wool. Our animals stay on pasture year-round but are also fed hay and small amount of grain during the winter months. At this point we have nine breeding ewes and a ram. Lamb is for sale at the farm only. Because our supply is limited it can be ordered here and picked up at your convenience later. Please use the order form to pay and let us know when you plan on visiting the farm and picking up your product. A courtesy delivery option is available to select locations. Summer is here! Shaker Square Farmers' Market virtual stand- pre-order here for pick-up at the market We are open for the Spring of 2023. Orders are for pick-up
