About Holton Livestock Company

We are Caleb and Lauren Holton, owners and operators of Holton Livestock Company LLC. We are a small family farm located in Southern Ohio, specializing in direct-to-consumer, farm-raised protein products. Caleb was raised on a tobacco and cattle farm and was deeply involved in 4-H and FFA, developing a strong foundation in agriculture from an early age. Lauren grew up immersed in her family’s farming traditions, spending her time riding horses and raising livestock for the local county fair. Both proud alumni of The Ohio State University, Caleb currently works as a District Manager for a power production technology company, while Lauren is a Nurse Practitioner in oncology research. Though our careers took us in different directions, agriculture always remained at the heart of who we are. We always knew we wanted to return to our roots in Southern Ohio and raise our family on a farm of our own—one where life lessons are woven into everyday moments and every corner offers an opportunity to learn. In the fall of 2017, we were blessed to make that dream a reality with the purchase of our first farm. In 2021, we expanded again, moving just down the road to a farm that better aligned with our long-term goals and farming practices. What began with a few cattle and goats has grown into a full commercial cattle breeding and production operation, along with poultry, pork, sheep, and hay. As busy parents and off-the-farm employees, we have always been passionate about knowing how our food is raised. After years of building our herds and creating a sustainable operation, our direct-to-consumer farm business was born. Our Promise-We pride ourselves on raising everything with heart, right from the start-We work closely with a ruminant and animal nutritionist to develop feed rations to support optimal health, digestion, and growth, because healthy animals produce exceptional meat-All livestock is locally sourced, pasture-raised, and finished on full non-GMO feed, free of genetic modification, hormones, and antibiotics-All meat is processed and packaged at vetted, USDA-inspected facilities, vacuum sealed and frozen at peak freshness Our goal is to provide high-quality, natural protein products that you can feel confident serving your family. Cattle Breeding Program:Here at Holton Livestock Company, we like to keep our cattle in-house, meaning most of our cattle are born and raised right here on our family farm. In fact, the majority of our maternal lineage can be traced back to one cow from 30 years ago. Our angus-based cows, calves, and bull rotationally graze on pasture, to support regenerative farming practices, maximize our pastures, and improve soil stability. Our breeding program is backed by science with careful emphasis on genetics, hybrid vigor, frame size, calving ease, maternal instincts, and carcass yields. Meat Program: About 50% of our cattle who go into our meat program are born right here at Holton Livestock Company. The other half are purchased at weaning from other vetted local farmers who share similar genetic philosophies with our herd. The calves are all integrated and raised together, where they have full access to non-GMO, locally sourced grain, and locally grown hay to support ruminant health and quality meat production. On average, our cattle are freshly marbled and processed at 14-16 months of age. Laying Hens:  Our happy laying hens forage on bugs and grass, in addition to their non-GMO, locally sourced grain. Our chicken tractors keep our hens safe from predators while allowing them to enjoy the sunshine, and roam and graze on fresh grass. The eggs are hand collected, washed, packaged, and refrigerated. Our hens move onto fresh pasture to help naturally spread their nitrate rich manure which bolsters strong, nutrient dense soil and grass for all our rotationally grazed livestock. Meat Chickens: Our Cornish-rock cross chickens are purchased from a local hatchery and shipped to us at 1 day of age. Once their
