About Green Leaf Farms

At Green Leaf Farms, we are dedicated to developing a thriving ecosystem through regenerative farming practices. Our mission is to produce high-quality, sustainable food while creating a deeper connection between people and the land. We are committed to nurturing our livestock and crops with care and respect, ensuring the health and well-being of our animals, soil, and community. Through education and engagement, we aim to inspire others to embrace sustainable agriculture and create a more resilient and nourishing future. At Green Leaf Farms, we’re more than just a farm - we are a community committed to sustainable and regenerative agriculture. We are a North Carolina century farm providing grass-fed and finished beef, woodlands pastured pork, and pasture-raised eggs, located just north of Charlotte between Concord and Mount Pleasant. By using sustainable farming practices, we have brought biodiversity back to our unique farmland to ensure the land remains fertile and vibrant for generations to come. Whether you’re here to learn about sustainable farming methods, enjoy a serene escape, or celebrate a special occasion in our beautiful venue space, we welcome you with open arms. We are dedicated to sustainable farming, ensuring that our agricultural practices benefit the environment and our community. Our approach focuses on regenerative agriculture, livestock management, integrated pest management, soil health, biodiversity, and community engagement. Regenerative agriculture aims to restore and enhance the health of our soil, ecosystems, and water cycles. Our cattle and hogs are moved to fresh pasture, which promotes healthy grass growth, improves soil fertility, and mimics natural grazing patterns. We employ natural and biological methods to manage pests, reducing the need for chemical intervention. No chemicals, pesticides, or herbicides have been used for over 10 years on our farm. Because the soils have improved due to increased organic matter, better water retention, and soil microbiology, valuable insect life has increased along with the number, and species of birds and other wildlife. We encourage guests to schedule a tour to visit our farm and learn more! After years of eating conventional eggs as a child and young adult, I developed food sensitivities resulting in extreme fatigue anytime I ate eggs. I’m glad I can now eat the eggs from Green Leaf Farms without suffering ill effects! Regenerative farming is superior to conventional farming, which relies on synthetic chemicals. Those harmful chemicals end up in our bodies and cause many problems. Thank you, Danny and Taska, for using Regenerative farming to provide the highest quality meat and eggs we’ve ever purchased. We had been searching for a local farm to buy our meats/eggs from. We found Green Leaf Farms on a google searched and reached out to them. Danny and Taska responded immediately to us. We asked if we could come and tour their farm with our two young grandsons and they were excited to have us come out. My family and I went to this A-mazing farm this afternoon & We had an incredible time!!! Taska is so Sweeeeeet, and Wonderful!! If it was possible, I would give a 100-star review🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 Wonderful, Delightful & Educational Place to Visit! The Tour was amazing. My Son & I learned so much about Healthy Farming for Humans & Animals. We have created a sustainable farm that is pleasing to the eye while producing a healthy, eco-friendly, inviting environment for our family, friends, guests, and clients. We offer high-quality grass-fed, grass-finished beef, woodlands pastured pork, and pasture-raised eggs. Our cattle are intensively rotational grazed on lush pasture where they are only fed grass and/or hay up to “till death do us part”.

Our Story

Since the late 1800s, Green Leaf Farms has been a part of the Safrit Family. After over 100 years of cultivating the soil and building on the land, we are honored to continue serving our local community. We would be remiss if we didn’t honor those who paved the way for us to be at this exact moment we are today. Milas Safrit and his wife acquired the farmland through his wife’s family in the late 1800’s. One of their children, Grover Safrit, bought the current farm around 1916 and cut timber from the land to build the house that remains on the farm today. He was a truck farmer producing fruits & vegetables. Ray Safrit was one of Grover’s sons and took ownership of the farm, along with his wife Phyllis, around 1963 when he bought his first cow. Ray was the first farmer to bring Beefmasters to this area of the Carolinas. Many of our family & friends remember Ray on his big green tractor or tending to his beloved garden. The transition to regenerative farming began in the late 80’s and early 90s as Danny Safrit, Ray’s son, started learning about Management Intensive Grazing. Danny, an engineer by trade, has worked on the farm throughout his life and would travel during his college years to help his dad tend to the farm animals. Danny married Taska Calloway in 2015 on the farm property, which led to the opening of an event venue. Cut to the present day where Danny and Taska are running the farm with the help of their family and the support of our friends, customers & clients. We have a farm store on the property where we sell goods and services, host private events, farm tours, and our newest adventure, The Tub Shack - a Wellness Oasis. We invite you to explore, learn, and grow with us at Green Leaf Farms. Together we can cultivate a future where agriculture and sustainability thrive hand in hand. See what we have to offer on our products page.
