About Berry Patch Farm

The Berry Patch is known for its fine produce and innovative techniques. At the farm you won’t find carnival rides, cotton candy, or silly entertainment to detract from the genuine quiet of the country. We focus our energy on growing good food and being good stewards of the land. Check our blog for the latest season updates - as well as following us on social media and subscribing to our newsletter! Sustainable agriculture and deliberate practices leave the earth better than we found it. We study the latest methods and test techniques to raise the best produce in ways that are healthy for the land. We use sustainable farming techniques in all of our crops. Some are produced organically and other crops are produced utilizing the latest integrated pest management techniques (IPM). We use a great deal of compost for fertilizer and weed control. Drip irrigation makes the best use of our pure well water to produce top quality apples and berries for you. We have visited this small family farm a few times and have had a good experience. We want our kids to know where their food comes from. At this farm , you can show yourself around and pick your own produce depending on what's in season. They have a good variety of produce. They also sell their own honey. This place is not full of gimmicks or a zoo, and that is why we like it. I have loved coming out to the Berry Patch Farm for decades now-- from the time I was little and in tow by my parents, to becoming a mother myself and bringing my own kiddos. In the summer, there is no better place to find fresh black raspberries, and nothing beats the hayrack rides through their beautiful fields on your way to pick apples, gourds, and your future jack-o-lanterns in the fall. Their land is so genuine, peaceful, and perfectly old-fashioned. Just returned from our Summer tradition of blueberry picking with the grandkids and our daughter here. We love The Berry Patch Farm- it's tranquility, the friendliness of the people who work there and their delectable produce! We look forward to returning in the Fall for their apples and pumpkins!

Our Story

Dean and Judy Henry realized a dream by establishing the Berry Patch Farm in the early 1970s.  For over 50 years, they provided the highest quality fruit and vegetables to central Iowa.  In 2025, Joe and Kristin Wakeman purchased the Berry Patch Farm from the Henry’s to continue on their proud legacy and usher it to future generations, all while realizing a dream of their own.  You’ll find the Henry’s (and their son, Mike) still helping out around the farm, and the Wakeman’s (and their kids, Zoey and Lewie) planting, tractoring, and more.  We grow strawberries, raspberries, vegetables, apples, and more. You can get Berry Patch goodies from the farm, at markets, and through CSAs (community supported agriculture). The Berry Patch is known for its fine produce and innovative techniques. At the farm you won’t find carnival rides, cotton candy, or silly entertainment to detract from the genuine quiet of the country. We focus our energy on growing good food and being good stewards of the land. Our employees work tirelessly to ensure provide our customers with the freshest and highest quality produce around. We have been providing central Iowa (and even visitors from the midwest) with the freshest, highest quality fruit and produce since 1974. We use sustainable farming techniques in all of our crops. Some are produced organically and other crops are produced utilizing the latest integrated pest management techniques (IPM). We use a great deal of compost for fertilizer and weed control.
